Jean Shin: Duet
Duet is a two-channel video installation in which two keyboards appear to play a duet of virtual correspondence in time with a constant soundtrack that echoes in the backdrop of our offices and internet cafes—the audible rhythm of fingers tapping on a keyboard. The keys play like those on a player piano, as they endlessly rise and fall in a video loop. Reflecting a digital culture powered by emails and chat rooms, Duet presents automated machines operating and communicating with each other without an apparent human presence.
