Jean Shin: Sea Change

Made of more than 7,000 single-use plastic water bottles, Sea Change forms a massive wave to bring awareness to the plastic pollution crisis. The sculpture was unveiled on Earth Day 2023 in Diani, Kenya as part of the Plastic Planet project. Plastic waste in Kenya, and around the world, serves as an ideal breeding ground for the mosquitos that transmit infectious diseases. Sea Change connects partners from across Kenya and the United States to call attention to the planetary health crises caused by single-use plastic waste.
