Jean Shin: Carte Blanche I-II

Photogravure and etching
21.75 in h x 20.75 in w
Edition of 30
Printed by Greg Burnet, NY
Published by Michael Steinberg Editions, New York

The traditional photogravure and etching processes used to make the Carte Blanche prints reference the obsolescence of Rolodex cards in the digital age. Interlocked cards that once mapped a social network of sorts, as they literally linked one individual contact to another, are now blank. Shown close-up, these abstracted forms resemble archaic dwellings, speaking to the collective memory of the past in both their material and image.
